October snow is coming down,
just a dusting, its early none the less.
An early introduction to wintertime.

Long nights, shift your day, daylight savings.
Cold water, frozen banks, freezing fish and fingertips.
The bee-keeper is breaking out the reserve.
The carpenter smashes his finger and yells...
“I’m not ready for wintertime, mr. weatherman,
what do you say, wont you tell me please,
there’s a warm front coming through.”

I remember a walk in the dunes.
Where the rising falling water meets,
a smooth waterline advancing on the beach.
Splash splash everybody laughs,
waves are cresting, signaling the crash.
Rest your head, close your eyes.
A few Z’s on the beach.

Ah but when you wake up, wake up from dreaming
go to the window to see, its snowing, snowing.
Its only October.

October snow is coming down,
just a dusting, its early none the less.
An early introduction to wintertime.
